PETITS MOTS: Chez Institut français des sciences et technologies des transports..

  • Air pollution is unique to a region- it's like litter as it impacts the area
    • Climate change is on a global level, while pollution is local

  • All forms of mobility has an impact:
    • Who made it, where, and how?
    • What is the life cycle of the mobility?
  • The "green factor" of battery electric is not only influenced by where the electricity comes from to reenergise the vehicle, but also the (raw) materials and chemistry that make up the composition of the (traction) battery
  • "We must adapt mobility to electricity, not adapt electricity to our mobility"
    • In order for battery electrics to be successful and function correctly, they must be redesigned and configured in the mindset of being electric from the start- it will not work to reshape an internal combustion engine vehicle to become battery electric and expect the same results
  • Low priced plane tickets have a tremendously high consequence that is often overlooked by the consumer
    • For instance, traveling from Lyon to Paris via aviation may be cheap, however, it's a nightmare for Mother Nature
    •  Overall short domestic flights are not environmentally beneficial to pursue due to the energy consumption and pollution output from this form of transit
      • Save flying for long haul traveling; exercise local transit options such as buses and trains
  • "Sustainability is..."
